The term CBD oil has become increasingly popular in the Netherlands in recent years, and more and more people are now incorporating CBD dietary supplements into their daily lives. CBD (Cannabidiol) has undoubtedly become a part of many people's routines in many cultures, for the simple reason of word of mouth, positive experiences from people in the media and besides, a CBD capsule is quite easy to consume.
That said, many of us feel obliged to educate ourselves about what we eat, why we eat, and what it does to us.
At Nordic Oil, our commitment to creating awareness, educating people and making CBD more accessible is at the forefront of our ethos. This is reflected in our high-quality and innovative products with natural elements.

Below is a detailed overview of our CBD capsules.
What are CBD capsules?
A CBD capsule is simply CBD oil packaged in a capsule/softgel form. But there's more to it.
Like CBD oil, using CBD capsules is a simple process. Some people cannot tolerate the earthy taste or aroma of plant extracts or oil. Even people who are new to CBD may find it repulsive. In this regard, capsules are a convenient, tasteless and hassle-free method of absorbing cannabinoids into our system.
CBD capsules come in different sizes, strengths and varieties, helping you choose the right product to suit you.
But many people do not feel comfortable taking capsules, simply because it is not as easy as swallowing food or a drink. We recommend that you swallow the capsules with plenty of water to be sure.
Before we delve deeper into the science behind CBD capsules, we will first look at why Nordic Oil capsules use the 'soft gel' formula.
At Nordic Oil, we are committed to creating products that make CBD accessible to you. The superior bioavailability of our CBD capsules allows us to achieve this goal, by increasing the absorption of CBD through a practical dosing method.
The CBD used in the capsules comes from certified hemp plants. And the carrier oil used in our CBD capsules is black cumin seed oil, (also known in Latin as Nigella Sativa oil). Black seed oil possesses immense health benefits. The combination of CBD and black cumin seed oil in our capsules therefore makes for a very attractive package.
What is a CBD capsule made of?
Our CBD is produced from organically grown, non-GMO hemp from certified European suppliers and undergoes regular quality checks. Depending on the climate and seasons, we source our hemp from different suppliers across Europe to ensure we always get a product of the highest quality.
The CBD oil used in the capsules is full-spectrum CBD oil that contains all naturally occurring substances found in the cannabis plant, including; terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids. These work together to optimise the effect of cannabinoids, also known as the entourage effect.
Our CBD capsules are gluten-free and free of artificial preservatives or colourings and flavourless. They are of the highest quality, containing several mg of CBD and have been laboratory-tested by a third party.
Nordic Oil CBD Capsules - The Science
Our CBD capsules have a unique soft gel formula that uses liposomal technology to deliver CBD (cannabidiol) more effectively. CBD per capsule depends on the strength. Most capsules contain 6.4 mg per capsule and are flavourless.
What are liposomal CBD capsules?
Liposomes are an advanced technology used in our products and act as 'carriers' of the CBD molecule. The liposomal formulation was developed to protect the active ingredients until they reach a specific location in the body.
Liposomes are microscopic containers or vesicles that resemble a soft soap bubble. The outer layer is made of lecithin (a phospholipid). A unique aspect of these phospholipids is that they form closed structures when hydrated. This allows active ingredients to be tightly encapsulated in these bubbles.
Finally, liposomes act as an efficient means of transport to deliver active substances to the body. Moreover, this approach is far superior to traditional capsules in terms of bioavailability. Moreover, the microscopic size and hydrophobic and hydrophilic nature of liposomes are all factors that contribute greatly to the potential absorption of CBD molecules.
Lately, the food, agricultural, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries have started to widely use liposome encapsulation technology for two main reasons:
- To improve the release and stability of compounds.
- To protect the functions of the compound inside.
Traditional CBD Capsules vs Liposomal softgel - a comparison
Traditional Capsules
Preservability: Long shelf life, but the outer casing may become sticky
Effect: Breakdown of the active ingredient as it passes through the gastrointestinal tract.
Production: Can be manufactured in-house, two-part capsules are easy to manufacture.
Costs: Low production cost and fast to market
Suitability: Solids and powdered
Liposomal softgels
Sustainability: Proportionally long shelf life, UV-resistant, Bio-compatible, Biodegradable, Low toxicity.
Effect: Targeted release of the active substance within the cell, thus higher bioavailability
Production: Large-scale production, advanced machinery.
Costs: High cost, advanced technology, and machinery
Sustainability:Best for lipids, oil supplements
Are CBD capsules suitable for beginners?
Men could argue both ways. The CBD oil in our CBD capsules are extracts from hemp plants, just like our other CBD products.
Beginners who are new to CBD may not be used to the earthy taste of CBD oils, or they may find the sublingual method of taking CBD a bit uncomfortable. In such a case, CBD capsules offer a quick 'on the go' solution. Moreover, the strength of CBD in our CBD capsules ranges from 6.4 mg to 16 mg per capsule - this dosage corresponds to 1 x drop of 15% CBD oil or 3x drops of 15% CBD oil, respectively. Thus, the capsules are suitable for both micro and standard dosing. We at Nordic Oil recommend not exceeding the daily dosage of two CBD capsules.
On the other hand, our CBD oils are available in a wide range of CBD strengths; starting at 5% and going up to 20%. So, depending on the experience of the user, you have more flexibility with the dosage here.... If you are a beginner eager to incorporate CBD as part of your daily diet, you can start with the 5% CBD oil, for example.
Some people who are new to CBD also try CBD isolate, which is the purest form of CBD (minus all the terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids). But what they may be missing is the entourage effect.
In short, it is based on individual choice to choose between CBD capsules or other forms of CBD products. If you have any specific questions about dosage, pregnancy, hemp oil, how many mg of CBD is in a softgel, our team of dedicated experts in our customer service team are happy to assist you!
How should I take CBD capsules?
Taking CBD capsules is simple and easy. CBD capsules are not psychoactive, contains gelatine and are odourless.
Take the desired amount (best recommended daily dose is set: 2 CBD softgels/capsules), put it in your mouth and swallow. If you don't feel comfortable swallowing capsules, we recommend taking them with plenty of water. Alternatively, some customers take them with their tea or coffee. It is recommended to take a break from time to time for a few days.
How many capsules should I take?
Dosage varies from person to person to get the desired results. The recommended daily dose of CBD capsules is 2 capsules/softgels per day. Each standard capsule contains 6.4 mg of CBD, which is equivalent to one drop of 15% CBD oil. Nordic Oil also has a stronger variant and then one capsule is equivalent to 3 drops of 15% CBD oil.
If desired and based on your needs, personal experience with CBD, or doctor's advice, however, the dosage can be increased accordingly. Build up the dosage slowly. It is also possible to combine it with 'normal' CBD drops with hemp seed oil if the taste of CBD oil does not bother.
How long does the effect of the capsules last?
The food we ingest has a complex interaction in our body. Similarly, CBD acts on our body through different mechanisms, and research into this is still ongoing. Therefore, various aspects, such as body weight, metabolism, lifestyle, route of administration, dosage, target, frequency of intake and pre-existing health conditions, etc, need to be taken into account. This is important to assess how much time your body needs to break down the capsule.
After taking CBD capsules, it takes slightly longer for the body to release the effect of the capsule. You should feel the effect after about 60 minutes. This is due to the 'first-pass effect', as the capsules have to pass through the digestive system first. The effects of the capsules can then last for 6-10 hours.
CBD oil taken sublingually, on the other hand, is absorbed by the body within 15-30 minutes, but the effect can last comparatively only 4-6 hours.
Our CBD capsules, softgels, tablets. What's the difference? Which one is best for me?
CBD products come in different forms that can be consumed through different routes of administration for the desired results. It is up to an individual's choice and aptitude to find the form that suits you best. Each form has its own advantages and disadvantages. What suits you may not suit someone else and vice versa.
When it comes to taking CBD (cannabidiol), follow the 'step-up' method or the 'start low, go slow' approach to get the most sustainable and consistent benefits. With this in mind, we are driven to educate you with reliable information and awareness about CBD (cannabidiol).
Let's give a brief overview of the differences between tablets, capsules and liposomal softgels.
Tablets, capsules and liposomal softgels are for oral administration.
Tablets are metabolised by the body. They go to the liver, are absorbed into the bloodstream, and are then released into the body in a distributive pattern. In the case of traditional capsules, once the shell is broken down in the digestive tract, it goes through the same process as tablets.
Liposomal softgels, on the other hand, (although they also pass through the digestive system) protect the CBD from liver enzymes, allowing the CBD to be targeted more effectively to specific cells or tissues. Moreover, this process ensures a sustained and systematic release of molecules.
Tablets come in different shapes, colours and sizes, and they can be swallowed or chewed. Capsules are usually cylindrical in shape. They come in different colours, but cannot be chewed. Liposomes are shaped like a bubble or a pea. They take the colour of the contents and can only be swallowed.
A tablet can be crushed, powdered, or dissolved in water. Capsules can be easily opened, but this is not recommended/safe to do before ingestion. Liposomal softgels cannot be easily opened.
Tablets are solids. Capsules contain either solids, powder or microbeads. Liposomes are best suited to carry lipids and oils.
Most importantly, the potency and bioavailability of both tablets and traditional capsules are degraded during digestion, metabolism and excretion. Softgel capsules with liposomes, on the other hand, offer much higher efficacy and bioavailability because they are released further into the body. They deliver smaller amounts into targeted tissues without diffusing into the body before absorption.
Benefits of capsules
In theory, it won't take much time to generalise and list some of the benefits of capsules. But, it is time to get practical. Today, the health and wellness landscape has changed. More and more people are taking capsules of dietary supplements and vitamins on a regular basis. Although we take them every day, we are not sure how much is absorbed by the body because much of it is broken down in the digestive system. Our bodies also get used to taking supplements.
Bioavailability is the main advantage capsules have to offer. And in most cases, traditional capsules fall short of that. If you want to take full advantage, try a liposomal CBD capsule.
To address this problem, there is a breakthrough in product development called "liposomal delivery". Our product development team has successfully embraced this advanced technology and applied it in the manufacturing process.
So, liposomes have: improved the value and suitability of transporters and improved the efficacy of nutrients, agents, excipients, antigens, etc. by effectively transporting them to the body.
Side effects CBD capsule. What should you look out for?
In general, no negative side effects have been reported when using capsules filled with CBD oil. However, on a case-by-case basis, one may experience dry mouth or drowsiness. Again, these reactions may vary based on age, metabolism, lifestyle, health status, use of other medications for a particular disease or condition, etc. Again, it is important to note that most softgels containing CBD are not vegan capsules and there is no aftertaste.
People suffering from any ailment or health condition are advised to talk to their medical advisor or GP about applying and using CBD in their wellbeing routine
Nowadays, it is easy to be falsely influenced by misleading 'DIY' video tutorials on how to make CBD capsules at home. We strongly advise against making CBD capsules at home!
Please note! This is because these tutorials of 'CBD capsule making at home' ignore several important aspects of the encapsulation process, such as; safety, quality, THC levels, contamination, toxicity, and storage.
All these issues are as important as effectiveness. There is also no guarantee on the standards used, due to the lack of validated lab results. Such practices should only be carried out by medical professionals.
Try to follow a balanced diet, drink water regularly, maintain an active lifestyle, and of course, a daily dose of CBD can help make your day complete.
